The Daily: NHL Arb Has Big Names; Who Got Away From Wings?
If you believe Marty Necas and the Carolina Hurricanes have some tension between them, wait until the Hurricanes have to point out his flaws in an NHL arbitration hearing.
Necas was one of 14 NHL players who filed for arbitration Friday by the 5 p.m. The other NHL players included respected New York Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren, Buffalo Sabres goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Columbus Blue Jackets’ 23-goal scorer Kirill Marchenko.
Detroit’s Joe Veleno is on the list of those who will have hearings that will be scheduled between July 20 and Aug. 4.
Filing for arbitration is often a catalyst for negotiating a deal. Last season, 22 NHL player filed for arbitration and 19 of those players settled before the hearing.
