The Detroit Red Wings will be counting on some home cooking to get the 2024-25 NHL regular season off to a tasty start. The Red Wings open the season with back-to-back home games – Pittsburgh (Oct. 10) and Nashville (Oct. 12).

In fact, seven of the first 11 Red Wings games will be taking place on home ice at Little Caesars Arena. On the flip side, the Red Wings will close out regular-season play with five of the last six and 10 of the final 15 games on the road.

The team will play a pair of four-game homestands – from December 23-31 and from January 7-14. There are a quartet of four-game road swings, three of them in the New Year. The first is from November 13-18. There are also four-game road swings on January 16-21, and from January 30-February 4. Detroit will also play four in a row away from home March 18-25.

Red Wings Taking It Outdoors

Detroit will be playing some outdoor hockey during the upcoming season. On March 1, the Red Wings will be facing the Columbus Blue Jackets in Ohio State’s famous horseshoe as part of the NHL’s Stadium Series.

The traditional New Year’s Eve game features Sidney Crosby and the Penguins visiting LCA on December 31 with an 8 p.m. start time. It will be the Calgary Flames visiting for the annual Thanksgiving Eve tilt at 7:30 p.m. on November 25. Detroit will also be home on Black Friday, facing the New Jersey Devils in a matinee with a 3 p.m. puck drop. That’s one of seven afternoon games on the 41-game home slate.

The Toronto Maple Leafs come to Detroit twice during the month of December. There’s a Saturday game on December 14 and a Friday clash on December 29. Both are 7 p.m. starts.

The Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers don’t visit Detroit until April 6. That one is a 5:30 p.m. start time. Meanwhile, the newly-christened Utah Hockey Club make their inaugural trip to LCA for a 7 p.m. start on March 6.

Jake Walman and the San Jose Sharks come to town on January 14 (7 p.m.). while David Perron and the Ottawa Senators visit on January 7 and March 27. Both puck drops are slated for 7 p.m.
