The Daily: Danielson May Play Game 2 for GR; USA Adds Goalie
Grand Rapids Griffins coach Dan Watson told the Detroit Red Wings website that Nate Danielson is an option he will consider for his team’s Game 2 against the Milwaukee Admirals on Monday in Milwaukee.
The Griffins have a 1-0 lead against the Nashville Predators’ American Hockey League affiliate.
Watson told DetroitRedWings.com writer Jonathan Mills he wants to “See if (Danielson) can be up to speed with us, but he’s certainly a good option for us for the lineup.”
The Red Wings reassigned Danielson to Grand Rapids after his Portland Winterhawks were eliminated from the playoffs.
Danielson is a candidate to make the Red Wings next fall, although the most likely scenario would be time with the Griffins. Drafted ninth overall last June, Danielson totaled 67 points in 54 games this season in the WHL.
Head coach Dan Watson on @DetroitRedWings prospect Nate Danielson joining the @griffinshockey:
“He’s an option (for Game 2). Obviously, he finished the other night, traveled back and now he’s going to travel here. We’ll talk to him, see how he’s feeling…” (continued)

Red Wings In Case You Missed It
Mock drafts believe the Red Wings will select a forward with their No. 15 pick in the 2024 NHL draft. Norwegian Michael Brandsegg-Nygard is in in the mix.
Bob Duff looks at what Detroit Red Wings players have to say about coach Derek Lalonde.
The Red Wings have reassigned Nate Danielson to play with the Grand Rapids Griffins. His Portland Winterhawks were recently eliminated from the Western Hockey League playoffs.
Red Wings Offseason
Trey Augustine’s goalie situation is changed for Team USA with the addition of Capitals goalie Charlie Lindgren to the roster. Augustine presumably will return to the role of No. 3 goalie. Former Red Wings Alex Nedeljkovic is expected to start for USA today against Kazakhstan. In other news, Red Wings 2020 draft pick Jan Bednar was in goal for Toledo Saturday during a 5-1 loss to the Kansas City Mavericks. The Walleye now trail 2-0 in the best-of-seven series. Game 3 is Monday in Toledo. Bednar has a Grand Rapids Griffins contract.
