Red Wings Draft Prospectus: Flashy Michael Hage May be Pick at 15th (+)
The first round of the NHL entry draft is to take place on Friday, June 28 in Las Vegas. At 15th overall, the Detroit Red Wings will be making their first-round selection. Based on talking to scouts, GMs and other hockey people, as well as studying the mock drafts of top NHL draft experts, Detroit Hockey Now is looking at players who could potentially be Detroit’s selection. Today, we look at USHL standout Michael Hage of the Chicago Steel.
Michael Hage
The more NHL scouts saw of center Michael Hage the better they liked him. At the beginning of the season, NHL Central Scouting had him ranked 19th among North American skaters. He was 10th in their final rankings, primarily because the NHL places a premium on prospects with a memorable skill package.
Hage boasts an entertaining collection of offensive skills. He is a game-breaker. The Red Wings don’t seem to have any interest in trading their first-round pick. It seems like they are more apt to take a forward than a defenseman at that spot.
