Trevor Connelly is heading to play college hockey at Providence next season.

The first round of the NHL entry draft is to take place on Friday, June 28 in Las Vegas. At 15th overall, the Detroit Red Wings will be making their first-round selection. Based on talking to scouts, GMs and other hockey people, as well as studying the mock drafts of top NHL draft experts, Detroit Hockey Now is looking at players who could potentially be Detroit’s selection. Today, we look at Tri-City Storm left wing Trevor Connelly.

The status of Trevor Connelly as a top NHL prospect was emphasized again in the past week. He was among 46 U20 players that USA Hockey was extending an invitation to participate in the World Junior Summer Showcase.

When he arrives in Plymouth, Michigan for that international tourney later this summer, might Connelly find himself performing in the backyard of his future NHL home? That’s a possibility.
