The Detroit Red Wings know they added layers of pressure on 2023 first-round pick Nate Danielson by having him make his professional debut in the middle of a heated American Hockey League playoff series.

But that’s the kind of the idea.

“It’s still a lot of pressure on him to come in here and jump into a series and get going,” Grand Rapids coach Dan Watson said. “He’s handled it extremely well. He’s a mature kid. Very responsible on the ice. I trust him out there.”
