I had been going to this tournament for years. It was the premier tournament in the NHL. At one point, there were 12 teams. I remember sitting next to Shanny, Brian Burke, John Vanbiesbrouk and my buddy sat next to Glen Sather and his soggy cigar. There really wasn’t any other tournaments like it. DET created something special. Other teams have begun to hold their own, smaller tournaments regionally. It reduces travel costs and keeps that revenue local. Attendees knew this was coming. It’s too bad. Traverse City is not missing out on much revenue, however. There are a number of other events during this week that also limited the availability of hotel rooms. It’s early fall in wine country, the town is going to be packed without all of the prospects around. It’s a tourist town. No need for “poor Traverse.”

Stevies buddy Nill is the only one that showed up. I feel bad for TC. Much business lost. This tournament is done like dinner.
