In reply to John Parham. John I think you are right. The Red Wing way is you want a young guy to be challenged but not overwhelmed by the level of compeitition. Time will tell what level he will play at this year.

Nice to take a close look at MBM, but I think he needs at least one year to refine his game and play at a higher level of competition. We need to remember he’s just 18 and would benefit from another year of maturity. All that being said, I completely trust Yzerman’s judgement in these situations, and he will bring these guys in when they’re ready.

I was at the draft in Vegas and stood next to MBN. Big frame, mature young man. I’m 6’1 and thought he was taller than me. Broad shoulders. Also sat near a lot of the other prospects. It was amazing to see that more than a dozen players came out of their seats to congratulate him when he was picked. Not even that many came out to Celibrini. Peers like this kid, a lot.

A young draft person making the roster (pushing someone out) would be great. It is time to start moving some of these in if they are ready indeed.
