Red Wings prospect Red Savage said he had the option to turn pro after last season but reached the conclusion the timing wasn’t ideal.

“I think all the stars kind of aligned for me to go back,” the Michigan State forward said.

Savage has a more advanced understanding of pro hockey because his father Brian played 13 seasons in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens, Phoenix Coyotes, St. Louis Blues and Philadelphia Flyers.
